What's Happening This Week in Class (4/23-4/27)

This week in class we will be wrapping up or unit on The Great Gatsby.

Monday- Students should have read through Chapter 8. We will have a reading/quotation analysis quiz. There will also be some time at the end of class for students to work on their Character Metaphor Project.

Tuesday- Character Metaphor Projects are due. We will spend the class period presenting these projects.

Wednesday- Students should bring their copy of The Great Gatsby to class and read through Chapter 9. There will be time to work on their last three seminar tickets. Without these tickets completed, the students will not be able to participate in the Discussion Seminar tomorrow.

Thursday- The students should have completed the novel and must have their 3 seminar tickets and a copy of The Great Gatsby with them in class. We will have our second Discussion Seminar today in which we will discuss the end of the novel and the book as a whole. Feel free to bring any questions or comments about the novel with you to class and be ready to discuss!

Friday- We will finish our Discussion Seminar in class today. This is your last day to earn points for the discussion, so come prepared to participate! I will also assign the culminating essay for The Great Gatsby. This essay will be worth 75 points and is due on May 7.

Homework- Buy your copy of Shakespeare's Hamlet and bring to class on Monday! Have a wonderful weekend!

What's Happening This Week in Class (4/16-4/20)

This week we are continuing our novel unit on The Great Gatsby.

Monday- Students should have read through Chapter 6 in The Great Gatsby. We will have a reading/quotation analysis quiz today.

Tuesday-The class will meet in the computer lab today for a tutorial on VoiceThread. I will assign the Character Metaphor Project that will be completed using the VoiceThread technology. This project is due on Tuesday, April 24.

Wednesday-The students need to bring their copy of The Great Gatsby to class. We will spend the class period catching up on the reading.

Thursday- Students should have read through Chapter 7. We will complete a connection to meaning chart and the students will have some time to begin planning their Character Metaphor Project.

Friday- We will spend the class period in the computer lab working on the VoiceThread for the Character Metaphor project. Students will need a copy of The Great Gatsby and any other materials they have chosen to use for this project.

Homework- Continue working on your Character Metaphor Projects, read Chapter 8 for Monday, and have a great weekend!
